MY STORY
Stones Unturned began on a very small scale, starting from local suburban weekend markets since late 2010 and early 2011, about 1000 km up north of Western Australia. Moving down to Perth in mid-2012 never stopped me from doing a lot of different suburban weekend markets. I used to sell my own creations, knitted scarves, and baby shoes, as those markets were handicrafts too. It involved a lot of my passion and creativity. Everyone I met was impressed with the quality and range I had to offer, and almost 85% of them asked me if I’d be back next week or if I had a store or a website to look at. This genuine love of people motivated me to expand my small business across the globe. Therefore, here I start with my own creation of an online jewellery store, and I hope to achieve greater reach for my customers with the help and support of my community.
Why my small business is called as “Stones Unturned.. Treasures are hidden within us”?
This idea once seeded from a short story that goes like..

Lesley was the first female to have chosen mining as a job in her family. To say her family was shocked was an understatement. For days after she declared she was going to be mining, her family thought she was joking, but when they saw the letter of acceptance from a mining company, they realised how serious she was. They necessarily disapprove; it was just the part about their only daughter going away from home that bothered them.
Who would wake them all up with breakfast in bed?; Who would take the little kids to school?; Who would take care of the garden?; Who would lighten the mood if it ever tensed up?; Who would remind their father that his glasses were on his head with a soft laugh?; Who would greet their mother with a kiss on the cheek and help with the groceries when she came home from shopping?; Who would help the kids with their homework?
Needless to say, they were all upset that she was leaving for the mining company, but they respected and supported her decision. Lesley was glad she had a family that cared so much about her, that they were willing to put away their problems to support her.
So she went. Her boss loved her work, knowing she was one of his best workers, and her lively presence blessed her fellow workers. A day came; when the mining company experienced a client who wanted a rare gem that he reckoned could only be found in that special mine. The perplexed boss agreed to the deal and asked his workers to do double time in order to find that gem. “You are to leave no stone unturned,” he had ordered them. The miners, all eager to impress their boss, did everything they could, yet to no avail. They had looked everywhere, yet they could not find that rare gem that the client wanted in his possession. Lesley was the one who worked the hardest, in order to get a raise in pay. It got to the point where she literally turned over every stone in her path, and it wasn’t until her back started aching from bending over so much that she stopped to think.
Their boss had not given them a description. How were they to know what the rare gem looked like? Just that thought made Lesley smack her hand to her forehead. She went to her boss and asked about the description, and when he realized the client had given him none, he called him up. The client replied it was supposed to be dark red with strips of green, yellow, silver, white, black, blue, pink, and every other color imaginable. The announcement about the description was soon made, and the search was restarted. Seconds turned to hours; hours turned into days; days into months, but no one had come even close to finding that rare little gem. Almost a year had passed; by this time, the miners had lost interest and stopped searching. Soon, every one of them except Lesley gave up, but she kept pursuing. At last, a day came when Lesley was tired and sat by a large, protruding rock that jutted out from the walls. She took a long swig from her water bottle, but a piercing shimmer caught her attention. Interest peaking, she crawled over to the light and gasped when the beautiful red gem came into view. It was exactly like how the client had described it, and Lesley picked it up, wasting no time in delivering it to her boss. Lesley got a raise in her pay, and the boss rewarded her richly.
If it was one thing her fellow workers learned from the young girl, it was that the consequences of never giving up are always good.
